The Wisdom of Jesus Son of Sirach (Heb: Joshua Ben Sira) is also called Ecclesiasticus. It was translated from Hebrew into Greek by the grandson of the author (see prologue), shortly after 132 BC (38th year of Ptolemy VIII Euergetes) during his visit to Alexandria, to benefit the immigrant Jews living there. The names of the author and his ancestors are found in the epilogue (50:27). Incomplete portions of the Hebrew text have been recovered throughout the centuries including the ancient fragments from Qumran and Masada. These include the Psalm of Thanksgiving a litany of praise (appendix between 51:12 & 51:13) that is not found in the Greek versions.
